Heavy metal recovery from the fine fraction of solid waste incineration bottom ash by wet density separation

چکیده

Abstract This work is aimed at exploring the recovery of heavy metals from fine fraction solid waste incineration bottom ash. For this study, wet-discharged ash fine-fraction samples full-scale treatment plants in Germany and Sweden were analyzed. The potential for metal compounds was investigated through wet density-separation with a shaking table. feed materials processed without any pre-treatment optimum processing conditions determined by means design experiments. Tilt angle stroke frequency identified as most relevant parameters, settings − 7.5° 266 rpm, respectively. obtained balanced copper enrichments (and yields) 4.4 (41%), 6.2 (28%) 2.4 (23%). A maximum enrichment 14.5 2% yield achieved, providing concentrate containing 35.9 wt.% elements. included 26.3 iron, 4.3 zinc 3.8 copper. In conclusion, density separation tables can recover fractions. Medium levels (e.g., Cu 2.7–4.4) (Cu: 26–41%) be reached simultaneously. However, performance also depends on individual sample.

LCA of metal recovery from waste incineration bottom ash

The important role gained by waste incineration in European waste management systems is recently clashing with increasing concerns about loss of resources in waste, i.e. metals. Even though the recovery of valuable resources in residues from waste incineration is becoming a widespread practice, a significant portions of valuables resources remains in the ash and ends up in disposal sites. The g...

Phosphorus recovery from municipal solid waste incineration fly ash.

The potential of phosphorus (P) recycling from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) residue is investigated. Vast and ever increasing amounts of incineration residues are produced worldwide; these are an environmental burden, but also a resource, as they are a major sink for the material flows of society. Due to strict environmental regulations, in combination with decreasing landfilling s...

Distribution of Chloride in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash

Chloride content is a critical problem for the reuse of incineration bottom ash as raw material in cement. The effect of dechlorination procedure largely depends on the existence form of the chlorides. However, limited information about the distribution and identity of chlorides in bottom ash can be obtained by bulk analysis methods. In this paper, the investigation towards a more comprehensive...

Cellular Mutagenicity and Heavy Metal Concentrations of Leachates Extracted from the Fly and Bottom Ash Derived from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration

Two incinerators in Taiwan have recently attempted to reuse the fly and bottom ash that they produce, but the mutagenicity of these types of ash has not yet been assessed. Therefore, we evaluated the mutagenicity of the ash with the Ames mutagenicity assay using the TA98, TA100, and TA1535 bacterial strains. We obtained three leachates from three leachants of varying pH values using the toxicit...

Characterization of Bottom Ash, Fly Ash, and Filter Cake Produced from Hazardous Waste Incineration

in this study, the chemical characterization of solid residues, i.e., bottom ash, fly ash, and filter cake, produced from the izmit hazardous and Clinical waste incineration Plant (izAyDAS) was investigated. the izAyDAS is located in the city of kocaeli in turkey and it has been in use since 1997. Several parameters were measured, including AoX, Cl-, CN-, So4 2and selected heavy metals includin...
